Better Eggs Start With Better Hens

We believe good food starts with how the animal is cared for.

Our laying hens have access to the outdoors where they can scratch, dust bathe, forage and explore.

They also receive a balanced ration to make sure they get the nutrition they need year-round.

The result is simple:

Fresh, local eggs from hens we know and care for every day.

Why Our Eggs?

Free Range

Our hens have outdoor access and room to behave naturally.

Farm Fresh

Eggs move from our nesting boxes to your kitchen with far fewer stops in between.

Family Raised

We collect the eggs, care for the hens and manage the flock ourselves.

Local

Raised in Wheatland County near Strathmore, Alberta.

Fresh Eggs. Simple Food.

There is something different about cracking an egg when you know exactly where it came from.

Our eggs come in naturally varied shades and sizes, depending on the hen that laid them.

Some are brown. Some may be lighter. Some are larger, smaller or occasionally a little unusual.

That's part of buying eggs from a real flock instead of a factory line.

What Our Hens Eat

Our hens receive a balanced poultry ration designed to support their health and egg production. This is a corn and soy free feed that we source from local farmers.

They also spend time outdoors where they can forage for grass, seeds, insects and whatever else catches a chicken's attention.

We'll always be transparent about how our birds are fed and raised.

Egg Availability

Egg production naturally changes through the year.

Daylight, weather, age and moulting can all affect how many eggs our hens lay.

Because of that, availability may vary.

You can also order eggs for pickup at one of our scheduled meetup locations around Calgary and the surrounding area. Meetup dates, times and locations are posted in advance so you can choose the option that works best for you.

Eggs can also be added to eligible pork orders and future farm subscription boxes when available.

FAQ

Are your eggs organic?

No. We are not certified organic.

Our focus is on how the hens live, what they are fed and being transparent about how the eggs are produced. But this being said, we do not use chemical sprays on our farm.

Are the hens outside all year?

Our hens have outdoor access when weather and conditions are appropriate. During severe Alberta weather, their safety and welfare come first. During this time they have access to a heated barn so they can stay warm and comfortable.

Why are your eggs different colours?

Different breeds lay different coloured eggs. Shell colour does not determine quality or nutrition, it is simply part of the natural variety of our flock.

Why are some eggs different sizes?

Young hens often lay smaller eggs, while older hens may lay larger ones. Size naturally varies from bird to bird.

Do you wash your eggs?

We keep our nesting boxes clean to help keep eggs as clean as possible. Occasionally an egg still gets dirty, and when needed we wash it before sale.

Once gathered, the eggs are refrigerated and kept cold through storage.

We handle, clean and store our eggs in accordance with the applicable food-safety and regulatory requirements for farm-direct egg sales.

Can I reserve eggs regularly?

We plan to make regular egg purchasing easier as production grows. Availability will depend on the season and flock production.
