Welcome to Cocks & Squeals Farm!
We're a small Alberta farm committed to raising quality food, treating our animals with care, and providing our customers with a straightforward farm-to-freezer experience.
By placing an order through our website, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions, subject to your rights under applicable Canadian and Alberta laws.
1. Products & Availability
Cocks & Squeals Farm offers farm-fresh eggs, heritage pork, whole chickens, and other farm products as they become available.
All products are subject to availability. Because we work with livestock and seasonal farm production, quantities, weights, processing schedules, and availability dates may vary.
We reserve the right to limit quantities or decline orders we cannot reasonably fulfill. If we are unable to fulfill an order for which payment has been collected, we will provide a refund for the unfulfilled portion.
2. Pricing & Payment Methods
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD).
We currently accept the following payment methods, subject to availability:
- Credit and debit cards through our online payment processor
- Interac e-Transfer
- Cash at pickup
Customers selecting Interac e-Transfer must send payment to [email protected], including the name used to place their order.
Customers selecting Cash at Pickup must pay the outstanding balance when collecting their products.
Orders placed without immediate payment may remain in pending-payment status. We may contact customers to confirm their payment arrangements and may cancel unpaid orders after reasonable notice.
Applicable taxes and any additional charges will be disclosed as required by law.
3. Farm-Fresh Eggs
Our free-range eggs are produced by hens raised at Cocks & Squeals Farm.
Our eating eggs are sold directly to consumers for their own personal or household consumption.
Eggs are uninspected and ungraded, and are handled, packaged, labelled, and stored in accordance with applicable Alberta requirements.
Egg colours and sizes may vary naturally depending on our hens and seasonal production.
Egg orders are subject to available inventory. Customers should keep eggs refrigerated after collection and follow appropriate food-handling practices.
4. Pork Preorders — Whole & Half Hogs
Customers may reserve heritage pork for future processing by placing a preorder deposit.
Our current pork pricing is:
- Whole heritage hog: $400 deposit
- Half heritage hog: $200 deposit
- Pork price: $6.00 per pound of hanging (rail) weight
- Butcher charges: Additional
Hanging weight refers to the weight of the dressed carcass before cutting and packaging.
The final amount of packaged pork will be less than the hanging weight because of trimming, bones, processing, and other factors.
Cutting, wrapping, sausage making, curing, smoking, and other butcher services may result in additional charges. Applicable fees or the method used to calculate them will be provided before customers become committed to those charges.
The final pork purchase price will be calculated using actual hanging weight and applicable butcher costs, less deposits and other payments already received.
Estimated availability: Fall 2027.
For more information, please read our guide: How Does Buying a Whole or Half Pig Work?
5. Whole Chicken Preorders
Customers may reserve whole, free-range chickens through our preorder bundles.
Current preorder options are:
- Bundle of 3 chickens: $30 deposit
- Bundle of 5 chickens: $50 deposit
Whole chickens are priced at $6.50 per pound of dressed weight.
Our chickens are expected to have an approximate dressed weight of 5–6 lbs each, but actual weights may vary.
Our 6 lb Price Guarantee: Customers will never be charged for more than 6 lbs per chicken, even if the dressed weight is greater.
Deposits are applied toward the final purchase price.
Estimated availability: Spring 2027.
All meat sold through our farm will be processed through an appropriately inspected facility.
6. Preorder Deposits & Cancellations
Deposits reserve products for future fulfillment and are applied toward the final purchase price.
Customer Cancellations
Preorder deposits are non-refundable when a customer voluntarily cancels an order, except where a refund is required by applicable law.
Farm Cancellations
If Cocks & Squeals Farm is unable to fulfill a preorder, the deposit will be refunded in full.
Changes to Availability
Livestock production, weather, animal health, processing availability, and other circumstances may affect fulfillment dates.
We will notify customers of significant changes and provide any cancellation or refund options required by law.
Nothing in this policy limits a customer's statutory cancellation or refund rights.
7. Optional Monthly Pork Payment Plans
Customers who have reserved a whole or half hog may request a monthly payment plan.
Payment plans are arranged directly with Cocks & Squeals Farm and are not automatically established when a deposit is paid.
Under an approved payment plan:
- The initial preorder deposit secures the reservation.
- Monthly payments are applied toward the customer's final pork purchase.
- There is no additional farm payment-plan fee.
- Payment amounts and due dates are agreed upon individually.
- Final costs are calculated after hanging weight and applicable butcher charges are established.
- Any remaining balance must be paid under the agreed terms before the pork is released.
Monthly payments will be recorded against the customer's order.
The separate payment-plan agreement will explain cancellation, missed payments, refunds of additional payments, and any overpayment adjustment, subject to applicable law.

9. Missed Pickups & Uncollected Orders
Customers are responsible for arriving during their confirmed pickup window.
If you cannot attend your scheduled pickup, please contact us as soon as possible so alternative arrangements can be discussed.
Because we sell perishable food products, missed pickups may require rescheduling, additional handling, or other arrangements to preserve food quality and safety.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate missed pickups but cannot guarantee immediate availability at a different location or date.
Any additional charges for special arrangements must be disclosed and agreed upon before they are incurred.
10. Returns, Refunds & Product Concerns
We take pride in the food we raise and sell.
Due to the perishable nature of food products, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges based solely on a change of mind after products have been collected.
However, if there is a concern about product quality, safety, a damaged product, an incorrect order, or a product that does not meet applicable legal requirements, please contact us promptly.
We will review the circumstances and provide an appropriate resolution, which may include replacement, credit, or refund, as required by applicable law.
Customers should inspect orders at pickup where practical and follow appropriate refrigeration, freezing, and food-handling instructions.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes legal rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Order Confirmation & Communications
Customers will receive an order confirmation through the contact information provided at checkout.
We may also contact customers regarding:
- Payment arrangements
- Product availability
- Preorder updates
- Processing and butcher selections
- Pickup locations and times
- Changes affecting an existing order
Customers are responsible for providing accurate contact information and notifying us of changes that may affect fulfillment.
Operational communications related to an order are separate from optional marketing communications.
12. Website Information & Errors
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, prices, images, and availability information are accurate.
Product photographs are illustrative. Actual products, packaging, sizes, and appearance may vary.
If a material pricing or product-description error occurs, we will contact affected customers and explain the available options before proceeding.
We will not impose additional charges without the customer's agreement where required by law.
13. Privacy & Personal Information
We collect information necessary to process orders, communicate with customers, arrange pickup, and maintain business records.
Payment information is handled through the applicable payment service providers and related systems.
Further information about our collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information will be provided in our separate Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to These Terms
Cocks & Squeals Farm may update these Terms & Conditions as our products, operations, and services change.
Updated terms will be published on our website with a revised effective date.
Changes will not retroactively alter an existing customer's contractual rights without the customer's agreement or a lawful basis.
15. Governing Law & Consumer Rights
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of Alberta and Canada.
Nothing in these terms limits or waives any rights or remedies that customers have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
If a provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
